Today is the Day

Well.....Today is the day that DS left. With so much happening in the last few weeks it was kinda anticlimactic. I think I decided half way through his senior year to start letting go by degrees. His plans to leave so soon after graduation, didn't give me much choice. It started with Seminary Graduation, that was tough, 4 years of early morning chats to and from seminary and school helped me get to know my son but more importantly I would occasionally catch glimpses of the man he would become. Then a week later High School Graduation, another mile stone, but mostly I just felt proud of him and not very sad at all.

The next week he turned 18, that gave me pause, now he was legally an adult, able to make his own decisions and HE had to live with the consequences. Then today he walked out our front door into his own life. He no longer was just our son, he was a man and had an adventure of his own to embark upon. Even now sitting here I am not sad, concerned yes, swelling with pride for the man we raised yes, even excited for him yes, but not sad.........then I think of his empty room and I miss my baby boy.

In the short time that I have known Cory, I realized that no matter what he does he will SHINE! I am looking forward to watching his new life unfold!
