Fathers Day

My Dad

My Dad and I
Nov 1971

Fathers Day, I have dreaded this day all week. Not for my husband, but for my Father. Having just lost his son, today must be very hard for him. I have recently found several pictures of my brother and I as children and they make me smile! So on this Fathers day, I have smiled a lot and thought of my brother as we were growing up and the fun we had and how blessed we were to have the Father we had. Sometimes I think back and wonder how he did it, I mean raise two kids alone and do it well? I wonder how is it possible that we did not drive him insane? How did he work and still manage to teach us how to be good people? I'm still not sure some 20 years after I have left home and have 3 of my own that I know how he did it. All I know is that my Father loved his kids, he taught us about life and how to be ourselves no matter what we faced. He taught us how to laugh and have fun, but always get your work done. But, I think the most important thing he taught us was how to love, I know my brother learned this and I hope I will reach that point in my life as well.
