Midnight Madness

Last night after everyone went to bed, It was my time. Usually every night I spend an hour or two after the house gets quiet doing my thing....reading, surfing the web, craig listing, ebaying, and eating in peace (probably why I have gained so much weight) or whatever I want to do, with no one calling, crying, asking or otherwise being a MOM! Well last night after "my time" I tried to go to sleep and finally just gave up. I posted to the blog, sent links to Karin from Craigs list for a serger she was looking for, and that gave me an idea. Karin had sent me a link to make a dress for C out of a mans button down shirt. The dress was so cute I had to try it! I had purchased a shirt the last time I was thrifting so out to the garage I went. I had to dig out my sewing machine and all the miscellaneous things you need to sew. I grabbed the shirt and referred to measurements I had taken of C the day before. With shears in hand and a short prayer I dove in. This is the end result...well almost the end, I put it on C, over a completely miss matching onsie, to see if the straps were OK and she wont let me take it off of her to hem it.

So don't be surprised if we show up at Church on Sunday with an un-hemmed dress. Oh...and the vintage buttons that looked soooo cute on the dress when I laid it out flat, look like GASP........... little boobies......might have something to do with the fact that I think I sewed them on upside down???? So will move those to the middle for sure!

It turned out pretty cute for someone who does NOT sew. All the hard work was done for me with the shirt, how cool it that!!

I did have one total success yesterday, I made stir fry yesterday for dinner. I love stir fry! Cabbage, carrots, red and yellow peppers, onions, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, and chicken over rice! I LOVE IT! C even ate it until she got frustrated with the rice falling off her spoon, and asked for some cheese.

So at 5am this morning off to bed I went, just in time for DH to get up for work. I was out by the time he hit the shower so that was good! Tonight I'm going to bed at 8pm!!!

BTW.......

DS called about 2 this afternoon, he was on the bus headed to the airport. He had been sworn in so he is officially a Soldier now! He said he had a couple of stops in TX then on to OK for basic. He said he was excited so I just laughed and told him I loved him! It is such a comfort to know he is doing what he wants to do!!
